Privacy

Last updated: June 9, 2026. We collect as little as possible.

What we store

Your email and (optionally) a display name and short bio. A hashed password, or a Google account identifier if you sign in with Google. The photographs you add, together with the place, year, and notes you attach to them. Basic technical logs (IP address, browser) kept briefly for security and abuse prevention.

What is public

Approved photographs and the place, year, title, description, and credit you give them are public, along with your display name on your contributor profile. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Why we store it

To run your account, publish your contributions, moderate the archive, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data and we do not run advertising trackers.

Sharing

We use a small number of processors to operate the service: our EU hosting provider, an email provider for account mail, and OpenStreetMap / Nominatim for maps and place lookups (which receive coordinates you choose to geocode). That is all.

Your rights

You can view, edit, export, or delete your data. Deleting your account removes your photos from public view. Email [email protected] for any request.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account exists. Deleted photos are purged from our servers within 30 days. Security logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
