Looks·Back
About

A small workshop for old photographs.

Looks Back is a one-room studio for the kind of work nobody usually pays attention to: a photograph that has lost its colour, a portrait with a tear, a scan that came out soft. Each task is handled by a model trained specifically for it. None of them are perfect; we tell you where they fall short before you upload.

Who we are

A small team based in Zagreb, Croatia. One designer, one engineer, one person who fixes the rest. We have spent enough time with old family albums to know what a careless restoration looks like — over-saturated, too smooth, the person inside replaced by a waxwork of themselves.

What we believe

A photograph is a thing somebody chose to keep. The job of a restoration is to return it, not to improve it. If you want a stylised reinterpretation, there are other tools for that. If you want the photograph you started with, only sharper, we built this for you.

What we do not do

We do not retrain our models on your photographs. We do not sell uploads. We do not display "before & afters" of users' photos as marketing without written permission. We do not use deceptive design — no fake countdowns, no fake testimonials, no manipulative upsells. The same site, in plain words.

Where it runs

Our servers are in the EU (Hetzner, Falkenstein). Photographs are stored encrypted at rest. Payments handled by Stripe. The models that do the work run in datacentres operated by Replicate, in the United States; uploads are deleted from those datacentres within an hour of the result being ready.
